Shonai Sashiko is a traditional stitch technique from the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, north-west Japan. Intricate patterns are formed by straight lines of running stitch crossing and intersecting. During the workshop, four basic stitch patterns plus some variations are taught, providing a good introduction to the four main stitch groups. With tutor Susan Briscoe.
