The Peacock and the Tortoise in Perth is a specialised patchwork and quilting shop the the centre of Perth. Started in 2011, the shop has been serving quilters and textile crafters for over five years. In addition to a good selection of fabrics and haberdashery, the Peacock and the Tortoise offers a large variety of classes for all levels, both one-day classes as well as 8-week classes for quilters.

Patchwork, Bag making, Quilting, Embroidery, Textile art, Sashiko, General sewing, Crochet, and much more. You can find the materials and equipment to do it. Our staff are all enthusiastic crafters themselves and can help you get started. Come and check us out!

At the moment we don’t have an online shop. However, we are very happy to send out material and haberdashery. We promise to charge reasonable shipping costs and use Royal Mail by preference. Contact us with your wishes.
We will build a gallery of photos of our fabrics (currently under construction).
We do not take online payment; phone us to order or to book classes.
NEWS
Our newsletter with courses for the autumn has now been published. Some classes are filling up rapidly so if you want to learn something new this autumn, browse our workshop section and give us a ring to book!
This mini quilt, made by Kate, won the sewing machine. The competition was to use a small piece of the peacock feather fabric and make it into an A4 sized, finished quilt, with the theme of ‘FIVE’. Well done Kate, for winning a Pfaff sewing machine donated by Pembertons.
The Peacock and the Tortoise has won the award for the Best Independent Haberdashery in Scotland.
